Jane Preuss
Jane Preuss is a Partner with Planwest Partners based in Eureka California, a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a Certified Floodplain Manager. She has two interrelated specialties: land use and environmental planning as well as mitigation and preparedness against the effects of natural hazards such as tsunamis, floods, and earthquakes. Jane practices coastal mitigation planning throughout the U.S., Asia, and Latin America and has taught Disaster Mitigation at the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) in Bangkok. Consultancies include coastal hazard mitigation planning for the Samoa Town Master Plan in Eureka California and for the Coastal Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness Guidelines for the USAID Sri Lanka Tsunami Reconstruction Program. Jane was an invited participant at the FAO sponsored Regional Technical workshop “Coastal protection in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean tsunami: what role for forests and trees?” in Khao Lak in August 2006.
