Walter Dudley, Ph.D.
Walter is Professor of Oceanography and Director of the Kalakaua Marine Education Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He co-authored the books, Tsunami! and The Tsunamis of 1946 and 1960 and the Devastation of Hilo Town, and authored Tsunamis in Hawaii. He is a National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program Steering Committee member, a consultant for the United Nations Disaster Preparedness Program and Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning System, a Pacific Risk Management Ohana member, and Disaster Education Advisor for Hawaii State Civil Defense. He currently leads a tsunami mitigation and education project in Ranong Province in Thailand.
