Bob Freitag
Bob is Director of the Institute for Hazards Mitigation Planning and Research at the University of Washington, and Executive Director of the Cascadia Region Earthquake Workgroup. Previously, Bob served as special advisor to the FEMA Regional Director on mitigation policy issues, and President Clinton appointed him the Federal Coordinating Officer to manage disaster response and recovery operations in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He has served on over 50 declared disasters in 18 states and 2 territories and prepared over 40 post disaster mitigation plans covering multiple hazards. Mr. Freitag has taught a UW course in floodplain management, and serves on the Association of State Floodplain Managers certification board. He received his Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Washington.
