The team surveyed in Banda Aceh on 21st January, 2005

1)Swept wood is found on the tree.
(N 5 deg. 33.521 min., E 95 deg. 17.046 min.)
The measured height of the wood from the mean sea level is 12.20m.

2) The team found the tsunami inundated mark at the 5th Aceh junior high school.
(N 5 deg. 32.245 min., E 95 deg. 17.479 min.)
The measured height of the mark is 9.0m from the mean sea level.

The team surveyed in Banda Aceh on 23rd January, 2005.

The team surveyed in the center of Banda Aceh.
They found some inundated marks there and measured the relative hights.
They, however, cannot report the hights today, because a standard level has not been determined.
So, they will report to you the hights in a few days if the standard level determines.

The team surveyed in the center of Banda Aceh, along the west coast of Banda Aceh, Sigli, and so on.
The heights they measured are as follows;

[ The West Coast of Banda Aceh ]
N 5 deg. 27.118 min. E 95 deg. 14.617 min. 18.8m (Runup Height)
N 5 deg. 27.065 min. E 95 deg. 14.567 min. 21.6m (Runup Height)
N 5 deg. 27.585 min. E 95 deg. 14.747 min. 31.9m (Runup Height)
N 5 deg. 26.410 min. E 95 deg. 14.480 min. 30.0m (Runup Height)
N 5 deg. 28.430 min. E 95 deg. 14.634 min. 17.3m (Water Mark, this value might have some errors.)
N 5 deg. 28.638 min. E 95 deg. 14.696 min. 12.4m (Water Mark)

[ The East Side of Banda Aceh ]
N 5 deg. 35.093 min. E 95 deg. 21.106 min. 7.23m (Water Mark)
N 5 deg. 34.033 min. E 95 deg. 20.379 min. 2.42m (Water Mark)

[ Kuede? (between Banda Aceh and Sigli)]
N 5 deg. 35.687 min. E 95 deg. 31.602 min. 5.92m (Water Mark)
N 5 deg. 35.768 min. E 95 deg. 31.560 min. 5.10m (Water Mark)

[Sigli]
N 5 deg. 23.052 min. E 95 deg. 58.082 min. 4.07m (Water Mark)
N 5 deg. 23.052 min. E 95 deg. 58.082 min. 4.82m (Water Mark, This station is next door to the above one.)
N 5 deg. 23.112 min. E 95 deg. 57.957 min. 4.25m (Water Mark)

Here, in the hights, the effects of the astronomical tide are removed.
So, the hights are pure tsunami hights.

The team surveyed along the west coast of Banda Aceh.
The heights they measured are as follows;

[ The West Coast of Banda Aceh ]
N 5 deg. 26.577 min. E 95 deg. 14.406 min. 20.0m (Runup Height)
N 5 deg. 26.590 min. E 95 deg. 14.535 min. 27.9m (Runup Height)
N 5 deg. 27.457 min. E 95 deg. 14.805 min. 34.9m (Runup Height)

In the area where the hight 34.9m was measured, the topography has gentle V-valley.
They could find the clear boundary between the inundated and the not inundated area at the hight of 34.9m.

Here, in the hights, the effects of the astronomical tide are removed.
So, the hights are pure tsunami hights.
